Book: The Structure of Scientific Revolution by Thomas Kuhn Book: The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself Manga: Uzumaki (3-in-1, Deluxe Edition): Includes Vols. 1, 2 & 3 by Junji Ito
Summary: In what can perhaps be considered his most notable literary piece, renowned American philosopher Thomas Kuhn ponders the basics of scientific philosophy and it’s history. Kuhn contests normative sciences, viewed as, what Kuhn calls, development-by-accumulation of accepted facts and theories. Kuhn calls for an episodic model, in that periods of such scientific continuation in normative sciences become interrupted by periods of revolutionary science. The finding of various anomalies during revolutions in science leads to new paradigms, which then question what can be considered concrete information. Upon reading, one can ask themselves their own scientific ponderings and question what has been taught through the years, giving new thought to prior knowledge. Summary: The simplest way to summarize The Untethered Soul is that you are not your mind. Your mind, in a sense, has a mind of it’s own. It creates ins own list of what it likes and dislikes. The reason you are unhappy is because the outside world is not conforming to your idea of how you think it should be. The more time the inner you (soul, spirit, observer you) can spend watching what your “monkey mind” is doing and saying, the more you can be free to enjoy life as it unfolds. The less you judge, the happier you are. You have to choose happiness and choose a larger perspective of reality than to narrow your focus onto problems… you have to allow everything in life to take place and be a part of life but not get hung up on things and let them clog your heart center. This book is short and easy/enjoyable to read. It’s message is very deep and requires some contemplation, experimentation and awareness. Summary: It is collection of short horror story mangas by Junji Ito, an author that isn’t scared to scare. Most mangas and horror manga authors worry about their character looking aesthetically pleasing to the reader, because they want their characters to be mascots or have “Super Fans”, not in this book; The drawing in this book are as disturbing as it gets for a horror manga. The stories are memorable and seeps under the reader’s skin. My favorite short story is “The Enigma of Amigara Fault.”

Movie: Split Movie: Memento Restaurant: Chili’s
Summary: The acting in the movie was excellent . The actors depicted the aspects of identity disordered very well. The movie was attention grabbing and had many plot-twists. There were also comedic aspects which tied in well to the plot. Summary: Unlike most films, Memento has a non-linear version of storytelling, in which (SPOILER ALERT in a way) the beginning of the movie is not the beginning of the story. This plays a significant role in the movie’s plot twists, which are good in captivating the audience. The cast does a fantastic job, which makes the characters more realistic and the plot twists of the movie more thrilling and surprising. Memento creates a unique form of cinema that viewers have come to expect and appreciate from Christopher Nolan. Summary: Chili’s is definitely one of the best American casual dining restaurant chain. I recommend this to those who enjoy Tex-Mex-style cuisine. They offer a wide range of food. From burgers to quesadillas, ribs to salads, and soups to seafood. Another great thing about Chili’s is that they have great service. You’ll never have a problem with any of the employees.

Movie: The Nightmare Before Christmas Video Game: Watch Dogs 2 TV Show: Dexter
Summary: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a animated dark fantasy musical filmed and directed by Henry Selick. It was released in 1993 with a soundtrack alongside of it. Composed by Danny Elfman, the soundtrack was nominated for the 1993 Golden Globe for Best Original Score. The storyline starts off with the main character Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of “Halloween Town” who discovers a new place filled with new things something he has longed for. The unknown. Jack finds one thing in particular intriguing, “Christmas Town” and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences. The animation in this film is absolutely stunning bringing out the best of Tim Burton and his beautiful but creepy art style. Summary: Watch Dogs 2 is a videogame by Ubisoft, it is a third person open world game, that gives the player the ability to hack whatever they want (cars, buildings, phones, cameras… etc) it is a blast to play through. Another aspect of the game that I thoroughly enjoyed was the soundtrack which was made by hudson mohawke. I would recommend the game to people who enjoyed games such as Grand Theft Auto V. Summary: Given that most television shows these days often lead to incoherent, cheesy, messes of a plot, Dexter is a breath of fresh air. Centered around a man named Dexter Morgan, he is a blood spatter analyst by day, and a serial killer by night. Dexter has urges to kill after seeing his mother being murdered as a young child that he can’t control. He uses these urges to become a vigilante of sorts, killing only people that he deems as evil and immoral. The acting is fantastic, with Michael C. Hall playing the role of Dexter to perfection, giving a truly convincing performance.

Video Game: NHL 17 Movie: What’s Love Got to Do With It Beverage: Tazo’s Chai Latte Concentration
Summary: NHL 17, this year’s version of EA Sports’ hockey video game, advances past the innovations that EA Sports that NHL 16 provided to create one of the most engrossing video games of 2016. This version expands on last year’s features to create better quality pictures, improved on-ice trainer, and easy controls, in addition to the various game modes such as on- and off-line shootouts, franchise mode, season mode, or just a plain exhibition for fun. My favorite mode is season mode, where the player chooses at least one team to play as for all 82 games of the season, leaving him in control of their race for the Stanley Cup. Probably one of the most impressive advancements EA Sports has had with NHL 17 in the past few years is the graphics. The hockey players look incredibly lifelike, their bodies and faces looking similar to that in reality. However, the improvement that the player can most appreciate is the controls, which have become smoother in the past few years, making actions such as faceoffs simple. Summary: The sad drama “What’s Love Got To Do With It” is a true story about Ike and Tina Turner’s music and love relationship. It’s more about Tina being in an abusive relationship with her husband Ike while trying to be an upcoming singing garoo. Her ups and downs sends a message to other woman: that you can be successful without a man. Summary: If you’re looking for an alternative to coffee, try Tazo’s Chai Latte Concentration. With a sweet taste and high caffeine content, Tazo’s Chai is the perfect morning drink. It is easy to make with just a half a cup of milk and a half a cup of tea and two minutes in the microwave, you’re ready to go and keeps you going for hours. It can also be served on ice during the hot Florida summers when coffee is just not helping you get through the days.

Artist: Eric Timothy Carlson Movie: Doctor Strange Place: South Florida Science Museum
Summary: Whenever coming across peice of art (Paintings, Photos, Music, Movies) I like them to be out of the ordinary, for I’ve been living too much in it (the ordinary that is). After listening to the new Bon Iver album 22, a Million (which I enjoyed for its weirdness), one thing that caught my attention was how beautiful the album cover was, after doing some digging I found that it was designed by Eric Timothy Carlson. Eric is an abstract artist based in Brooklyn, New York, he melts poetry, symbols, letter and photos together, to make new interest images that blends weirdness and beauty. He’s an artist worth checking out for any art enthusiast. Summary: Doctor Strange, a surprisingly captivating adaptation of the comic series by the same name, tells the story of Stephen Strange, the arrogant surgeon who, after a devastating car accident, takes shelter with Nepalese monks in an attempt to learn how to heal his nerve damage. As a result of this, Strange ends up learning magic and is forced to protect the world from a man trying to bring an evil force to the world. The movie’s directing was amazing, especially with the mind-blowing scenes and concepts, and the well-timed comic relief. In actuality, this was a well composed film that exceeded expectations in all aspects. Summary: If you’re looking for a fun day out, look no further than the South Florida Science Museum. Recently renovated to revamp the infrastructure of the building, it includes all new aquariums and interchangeable settings for rooms. The current theme is the human body. Titled The body: All about us. This specific exhibit is nationally renowned for being very interactive and educational, also being something that is not very common. The exhibit features real human skeleton and nervous systems to show and teach us about ourselves from a microscopic and systematic level.
Admission to the museum costs $16.95 and the exhibit is here until April 2017.

Album: “Purple Rain” by Prince Book: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell Restaurant: Cheesecake Factory
Summary: Purple Rain is the sixth studio album by American recording artist Prince, the second to feature his backing band The Revolution, and is the soundtrack album to the 1984 film of the same name. The album was released on June 25, 1984. The album is mixed with a bit of funk, pop, and rock. Prince was a iconic musician and should be remembered by the beautiful music he made. The album was so good that they made a movie with Prince starring in it! After all he was the one he behind the funky beats. Summary: Set in 1986, this love story follows two teenagers in Omaha, Nebraska. The boy, Park, comes from a traditional Korean family, attempts to break the mold that his family has followed. The girl, Eleanor, struggles to deal with an abusive stepfather. As these two misfits venture through adolescence together, they fall in love. Personally, this book is one of my favorites because it strays away from the cookie-cutter “boy meets girl” plotline seen countless times in novels. Summary: The Cheesecake Factory originated in Detroit, Michigan in the 1940’s. It is a restaurant company and distributor of cheesecakes in the United States owned by Evelyn Overton, Oscar Overton, and David Overton. It is based all around the United States with a total of 165 restaurants. The Cheesecake Factory seems to hold a special place in the hearts of lots of people. As well as their delicious cheesecakes, they offer a variety of dishes. I recommend this restaurant because it is worth all your money. Everything is amazing.

Album: Simple Math by Manchester Orchestra Restaurant: Melt Album: The Giver by Lois Lowry
Summary: Simple Math is an engrossing album that exemplifies alternative rock. The album has a way of conveying emotion in songs that I would normally not even notice. This time, however, I was able to appreciate the expressivity of the band, which I found to be touching. The lyrics are meaningful and expressive, functioning as complements to the emotional rhythms and melodies that the words are set to. Personally, my favorite song on the album is “April Fool”, although it is hard to choose between the ten well-written songs on Simple Math. Released in 2011 as Manchester Orchestra’s third album, Simple Math contains some incredible hits, and stellar transitions between the songs. The change between “Deer” and “Mighty” is practically unnoticeable, and the instrumental portions of “Mighty” are captivating. Summary: Melt offers a twist on a childhood classic: grilled cheese. Located on the corner of Congress and Gateway in Boynton Beach, Melt serves up gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, including the “BBQ Mac Attack” , which is comprised of Mac and Cheese, pulled pork, barbeque sauce, and American cheese. Caramelized onions and swiss and parmesan cheese on white bread make up my personal favorite, the “French Onion Melt”. Customers have the option of building their own melts too.
Prices Vary from $5.99 to $7.99
Summary: The Giver is a novel that was is based on a utopian/dystopian themed plot. The author Lois Lowry originally published the book in 1993. The novel’s main character is a 12 year old boy named Jonas. The community in which Jonas resides in is a place of sameness. No pain, no disease, no emotion, and no color. Only a place of perfection, isolated from everywhere else in the world. Jonas is chosen to be the “receiver of memory”, the one the community relies on to be strong enough to gain and preserve past information before sameness. Jonas struggles to contain the information himself when there are things a 12 year old can’t handle. This novel is heart stoppingly fantastic. Anyone who reads will surely enjoy themselves.

Book: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold Web Comic: Camp weedonwantcha TV Show: Wilfred
Summary: The Lovely Bones is a novel originally published in 2002. It centers a 14 year old girl, Susie Salmon being brutally murdered. She watches from her personal heaven as her family and friends mourn over her tragic death. She struggles balancing her yearning for revenge and her wanting to help her family overcome the tragedy and move on. She must face the fact that she is dead as well. Summary: Camp weedonwantcha is a webcomic created by Katie Rice, it is about a kid who get sent to a camp where kids are sent for doing bad things, there are no adult supervision, the kids are just stuck on an island by themselves. It is a good addition to any avid comic readers list. a lot of work was obviously put into each strip, it is funny, and entertaining. it is free to read on the official website. Summary: The cult-classic television series Wilfred shows a man with his dog. There’s a twist, however, as the man sees his dog Wilfred as a human in a dog suit. Ryan, the main character, struggles with self identity and rationality with the presence of his “special ability” that causes him to delve into mental insanity. The dark turn that the series takes is fresh and invigorating for television, as not many shows are willing to take that risk and express creativity. What originally starts as a comedy turns into a type of show that cannot really be listed under any genre. It’s an interesting ride, so he sure to check it out.

Movie: Safety Not Guaranteed Game: The Witcher 3 Album: “Waiting on the Sun” by The Doors
Summary: Safety Not Guaranteed depicts an intern for a magazine who, along with two coworkers, investigates a newspaper ad requesting a partner for a time traveling mission. This movie, while lacking notoriety, makes up for it in humor and actual substance. Few expected this movie to be as captivating as it was, but throughout the movie there was a balance between levity and seriousness that a person can appreciate, especially with the film’s strange plot. In addition, the characters, who at first appeared simple and one-dimensional, actually opened up to become complex and developed well. Summary: If you’re a fan of mythical beasts, riding on blazing horses, or beautiful graphics, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the game for you.
Released in May of 2015, The Witcher 3 follows the protagonist Geralt as he must find his daughter Ciri and prepare to fight the Wild Hunt. The Witcher series is one of decision making, as every decision you make will come back to help (or haunt) you in the latter stages of the game. These decisions that you make can even impact the way that the story flows in the game, something that is revolutionary for an RPG game and is built upon through the DLC released. On the topic of DLC, the company that made the game, CD Projekt Red, has released numerous DLC packs that are well worth the money. The most recent one, Blood and Wine, is even larger than the base game itself! The game beholds beautiful graphics backed up by stellar gameplay and combat that is unrivaled by any game, using a new engine to make the game.
Summary: “Waiting on the Sun,” while released in 1968, still remains, I feel, a classic album that everyone should sit down and just listen to. Jim Morrison’s voice easily bends to the mood of each song. While upbeat and peppy in “Hello, I Love You,” he shifts to a deeper and sadder tone in songs like “My Wild Love.” This complex and well built classic captures the essence of rock at its very beginnings, while remaining invincible to the constructs of time. Morrison created songs with his soul, each lyric expresses his pain or laughter. It is one of my favorite albums to sit and just listen to on rainy days, while I am “waiting for the sun.”
